We loved the food and service was amazing. Will visit again. Manager was very kind, offered me to charge the dying phone from their power socket.

Absolutely the best lunch I've had in years, salt and vinegar hot chips with dim sums and coke! Cooked to perfection! I highly recommend! Definitely will be back next time I pass through Rushworth

The Golden Nugget Take Away Rushworth Burger Name: The Rushy Burger (original, I know) – from top to bottom – bun, cheese, egg, pattie, bacon, onion, cheese, pattie, sauce, bun. Located in High Street Rushworth, The Golden Nugget boasts 1 review, 5 star none-the-less, with a review from user goldennug (hmmm) stating: “Highly recommended great tasting food, scones are divine, pizzas are a must (try the Super Special or the Aussie). Also, the Fisherman’s Basket is a generous size, fed more than 2 of us. Well worth the drive across. Go to the shop on the corner. Great place”. This eatery certainly left an impact on goldennug back in 2014. How times can change, or do they? In all fairness, I was known to frequent the Golden Nugget back in my youth when a mate and I often travelled over to Rushy to chase more than gold and burgers, however, that it is a story best left untold. Although I will mention working at the Golden Nugget seemed like a right of passage for many Rushy teenage girls and it was often the place to hang out on a Saturday night. Overall Appearance: 10 Points A bit like my initial journey to Nagambie this burger is retro with a capital R. It looks straight out of 70’s ABC documentary or something that was hanging from the advertising sign in the cafeteria at the Drive-In. Simple, no fuss and what you see is what you get. Certainly, the landscape was not spoiled by any greenery. 9/10. Bun: 10 Points A nicely grilled standard burger bun. Picturesque sesame seeds on top, again giving that retro impression. 9/10 Meat: 10 Points The Rushy Burger boasts 2 beef patties. These are juicy and very tasty. Not sure if they are made on premises or acquired from the highly reputable butcher in town. 10/10 Cheese: 10 Points Standard caterer’s cheese by the look of it, however, twice as much which is almost enough when it comes to cheese. Layered in the burger to perfection allowing the hot ingredients to gently melt the cheese. Nice. 8/10 Anything not the Burger: 10 Points Nothing really for the vegans on this one. Just the essentials one might say. Cheese, egg, & bacon which sounds pretty fine on its own and is a marriage made in heaven on this burger. Juicy bacon and well-cooked egg supporting the argument that you really don’t win friends with salad. 9/10 Sauces: 10 Points Plain and simple here. Tomato sauce straight out of the bottle. MON, Rosella..don’t know. 7/10 Messiness: 10 Points The winner so far in the burger category, although not provided, I estimate this would have been a 3 napkin clean up. Best not to say what was used instead. Juicy, a little greasy, but not in a bad way. 8/10 Burgerness: 10 Points Yes, this was definitely a simple and a mighty fine burger. One for the nostalgia fans. 9/10 Price: 10 Points Forgot to really take note of this due to ordering a few other things for the small, annoying child that was with me today. I believe it was around the $12.00 mark. 7/10 Service: 10 Points Efficient, reasonably friendly and no fuss. In fairness these guys were flat out due to the large amount of people in Rushy today for the Easter Fair. 7/10 Overall: Surprisingly this was a very tasty and enjoyable burger and one that I would be more than happy to tackle again on another visit. It is evident that this place is still very popular is the small town of Rushworth. It is trying to hold its own as other buildings get a little artier & trendier. This take-away throws back to a time when life was simpler, and often a lot of fun. It is no longer a traditional take-away and milk bar, but the remnants still remain from the coca cola posters to the signs with new release DVD deals that no longer exists. 83/100 95-100: I could eat this burger every day for the rest of my life. 80-94: This is, excuse me, a mighty fine burger. 50-79: This is a decent burger. 20-49: I’m glad I ate this once so I know I never have to eat it again. 0-19: Yeah. Nah.

Had a burger with the lot here. The patty was excellent with no excessive grease. Salad was fresh, lettuce crunchy and fresh bread roll. Absolutely delicious couldn't want a better take away burger. Didn't feel like rubbish afterwards which is a risk with traditional greasy take away.
